YOUR eyes are said to be the window to your soul.
That phrase comes from the bible verses Matthew 6:22-24 that says: “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness.”
With modern beauty techniques focussing on all aspects of the face, from lips the cheeks, chins, jaws and brows, it’s no big surprise that the latest trend is looking towards the eyes.
Foxy Eyes or Designer Eyes are the latest mega-trend in beauty.
And it seems everyone wants an almond-shaped upturned eye.
People on TikTok are even shaving off their eyebrows to achieve a more lifted look – dubbed the ‘fox eye challenge’ (just look up #foxeye).
One Australian surgeon has pinned the trend on the desire to look like social media galactican size stars. Dr Angelo Tsirbas has been quoted as saying: “Social media influencers with great profiles and large followings, along with the Internet and lifestyle media, are the key drivers when it comes to aesthetic trends. In particular, the popularity of Kendall, Bella and the Kardashians are the most requested ‘look’ that many patients are aspiring to.”
This kind of cosmetic treatment basically involves lifting the outer corner of the upper eyelid and slightly pulling it towards the temples.
If you’re looking to change the shape of your eyes, there are two different approaches that can be used: a non-invasive option and an invasive (surgical) option.
Non-invasive involves the injection of fillers and fat at the outer edge to elevate the brow and at the other end of the spectrum lies the surgical options. Blepharoplasty is the official name for plastic surgery involving the eyes, and it involves removing excess skin or fat to rejuvenate or correct the shape of the eyes.
So Foxy Eyes are in…..and maybe help create smiling eyes and maybe shine a new light on the window to your soul.
